AN INTRODUCTION
The year 1696 was the start of what we know today as Imperial Russia. Peter the Great was determined to make Russia what it was not, and that was the greatest power in all of Europe. By the 19th century, the Russian Empire covered a vast one sixth of the world. However, what Peter the Great had begun would soon come to a crashing end with the destruction of Russia's glorious Empire by the February Revolution of 1917.
